Area

The Area

Although the area is quite remote, and we would advise having a car to get around, there is a lot to do locally.

The bus service has improved over the years, but do not expect them to stick to the timetable.

Adjacent to the residential area is a nature reserve (R).  Ideal for bird watching. It is used by large numbers of birds when migrating north or south, depending on time of year.

A short walk from the apartment is Cositas (C).  A friendly roadside bar, ideal for a relaxing beer.

There are two supermarkets within a short drive, Mercadona and Consum.  The Consum (S) being just a 10-15 minute walk.  Both stock whatever you are likely to need and have excellent fish counters.  Next to the Consum is the Pharmacy.

Behind the Consum, a new development has sprung up over the last few years, which they have called Vera Plaza (P).

Here you can find a number of restaurants, bars and cafes.  A couple of ice cream parlours, bakery, gift shops and a cashpoint.

A short walk from here is a Night Market (N) - this is held during peak season - end of June to beginning of October.

The beach, which stretches for over 5 miles, is 5 minutes from the Plaza.  With a number of Chiringuitos (beach bars), some hiring sun beds.

Next to the Consum is AquaVera (W), one of the regions largest water parks.  Ideal for a day out in the sun.

If you go straight over, or left, at the roundabout at the bottom of the hill, you can head over towards the Vera Playa Hotel.

Here you will find Frankies Bar (F) - good for live football - and a few more restaurants and bars.

The hotel and the beach in front is Naturist friendly, so you may wish to avert your eyes.
